Gogo Bars in Patong Beach Phuket

Patong has become the main tourist centre of Phuket with the most varied entertainment on the island. The small but busy beach resort is also probably the only place where a visitor will find any go go bars.

The Patong street which is the closest thing anyone will see to the entertainment venues of Bangkok is Bang La. The street is wide and hosts not only the go go bars of Phuket, but also restaurants, open fronted drinks bars and music bars. At the corner of Bangla at the Rat-U-Thit end of the Soi is a Thai Boxing ring, The BangLa Stadium which holds bouts nightly. This one single area is a terrific place for just about everyone, with the more intimate bars and go go clubs in the smaller Sois of the main Bangla thoroughfare. These are Soi Eric, Soi Sea Dragon, Soi Tiger, and Soi Easy, along with other side Sois which are mostly beer bars in the middle and around the edges of the Soi. These Sois are the likes of Soi Lion and Soi Gonzo.

Being more of a family orientated resort, non of the go go bars have anything like that found in Bangkok but there are some good places to have a drink, a chat and meet a new friend in Patong. There are plenty of girls working in the go go bars who have moved to Phuket from the north, but come here in preference to living in the busy and crowded Bangkok. Drink prices are slightly more expensive in the Patong bars at around 120 Baht for a Heineken and 150 Baht for a lady drink. Bar fines vary from 300 Baht to 600 Baht.

Patong and Phuket have a stricter set of rules than the capital so visitors should no expect too much flesh on show. As with all the night club rules in Thailand they can change according to local arrangements, and it is no different here. Bars which have a 20 year old admittance policy may have amore raunchy show, but that is not guaranteed. Of the small Sois off the main Bangla strip, Soi Sea Dragon has the largest concentration of go go bars, with outdoor drinking bars down the middle.

Soi Crocodile has the most Katoey or Ladyboy bars, including some of the netter dancing places. Away from Bangla is the Paradise Complex which is the venue for many of the gay bars of Patong.
