Shopping in Patong beach, Phuket Thailand

How do you best describe a shopping experience in the busiest tourist district of Phuket -- Patong Beach? I presume you’ll never really know unless you try to shop as far as your eyes can see in the numerous shopping areas accessible.

Patong Beach has been a bliss for shopaholics due to the abundant shopping areas at hand.

Jungceylon is the biggest Shopping and Lifestyle Center in Southern Thailand located in Rat-U-Thit Road in Patong and is just 5 minutes away from the beach. This shopping center is a place not only for shopping but also for drinking, dining, entertainment and leisure.

Inside Jungceylon are two major department stores namely Robinsons and Carrefour. There are at least 200 stores inside the shopping center selling branded and unbranded items. Banks are also accessible in the area.

Ocean Plaza is another establishment present in the area of Patong. There are actually two Ocean Plazas in the area. One is located in Bangla Road while the other is located in the southern beach part of Patong. These department stores are quite smaller compared to Jungceylon but prices of items being sold are cheaper. These places sell clothes, gadgets, electronics, and other stuffs. Ocean Plaza in Bangla Road has an entertainment zone like a bowling alley and a large sports outlet. Patong Shopping Centre is another alternative shopping destination in the district. It’s located in the beach road near KFC.

Patong’s main beach road transforms into crowded night markets and stalls selling souvenir items, CDs, beachwear and beach accessories, handicrafts, toys, and other saleable goods during the evening. Moreover, there are weekend night markets available for 2-3 nights selling new and secondhand clothes. Cost of items being sold in Patong stalls and bazaars may actually be a bit high as compared to the night markets in other places in Phuket.

An antique shop is also reachable in Patong. Baanthai Antique offers a fine collection of authentic and rare antiques from Thailand and neighboring countries. The shop is selling accessories, bronze items, stone carvings, ceramic pots, teak wooden doors, wooden furniture, lacquer ware, lights and lamps, silks, and other souvenir items. It is located in Thaweewong Road and is just a walk away from the beach.

There is also a Thai Buddha amulet shop located in the heart of Patong. Boonyium Thai Buddha Amulet sells both the oldest and latest Thai amulets which were chanted by famous monks. Shops selling paintings and other artworks can also be found in Patong located in Rat-U-Thit Road. Gallery Center Shop is one among the famous centers selling over 2,000 different paintings. Gold jewelry and cultured pearl shops are also present in Patong district.
