Landing at Phuket

A paradisiac resort on the waters of Thailand, Phuket is Thailand's largest island measuring a full 48 kilometers in lenght and 21 kilometers at its widest point. The island is ever watching the Andaman Sea and connected to the Southern tip of the Phang Nga Province by two heavy duty road bridges that are the only land based entry point to the island.

Traditionally, the island has been part of one of the major trading routes connecting India and China and made its wealth from exporting tin and rubber. All of that has changed in the past decade as tourism has rocketed to the top and become the top earner. In the process Phuket has become Thailand's wealthiest Province and an internationally favored travel destination for those looking for a wild ride (or a fantastic hen party) on the golden sands of Thailand.

Patong Beach

No article about Phuket can be complete without mention of the fantastic Patong Beach, the largest beach resort in the whole island. Known by many as the party capital of Asia, Patong has an exciting nightlife (excellent for a stag or hen night) and just a fabulous beach. No corners have been cut on Pantong and only top of the line entertainment is offered: world class restaurants, chic nigh clubs, entertainment complexes and trendy bars are clustered together in this paradise of pleasures. And pleasure is the key word here as there are service industries to cater to even the most demanding client (including a million dollar female, transgender and male sex industry.)

Of course, Patong is not for just everybody. In particular the average backpacker might want to wait until the rainy season to visit because if there is one thing that all Patong establishments share in common is its high prices. Even though the prices are higher than in places like Phuket Town there is quite a great deal of budget accommodation sites (just not too many budget activities to do besides enjoying the beach.)

The fast paced action is never lacking at Pantong and with new friends to meet and new venues to explore, the beach is a popular spot for those who are looking for an active and fun filled holiday. During the day, there is an assortment of water activities that are the delight of tourists, and of course there is the beautiful beach to enjoy. If you feel like pampering yourself you can access one of the many spas or wellness centers or even hire a personal trainer to make sure you stay fit during your holidays.
